Global Family Farm’s green tea is grown in Eastern Nepal, in the shadow of 28,169 foot high Mt. Kanchenjunga, by a cooperative of family farmers on land that has been certified organic for over 30 years. The soil has an extraordinary degree of fertility—the humus is nearly nine inches deep. Thanks to this fertility, our premium whole-leaf green tea is delicately flavorful, with maximum antioxidant potency.

Our green tea is harvested when the top leaves are open, but before they have begun to oxidize on the plant. During processing, the tea leaves do not go through an oxidation process like oolong or black tea. Once the leaves have been plucked, they are rolled and dried. To maintain the fresh and mild flavor of green tea, the leaves are dried by steaming or pan-firing for a short period.

Green tea is best when served without milk or sugar. Because our green tea does not undergo a fermentation process, it has a mild flavor and smooth finish while retaining the high levels of antioxidants. Antioxidants help improve metabolism, burn fat, lower the risk of cancer and heart conditions, and improve brain function.



Kanchenjunga Tea Estate

More than 30 years ago, independent farmers in Eastern Nepal came together to form a cooperative tea garden in the foothills of Mount Kanchenjunga in the Himalayas. This became Kanchenjunga Tea Estate & Research Centre (KTE), the first and only certified organic tea garden in Nepal.
